Bill Nye The Science Guy Accused Of Being A Bully

It is an absurd twist that scientists are being accused of “bullying” business and economic interests – as opposed to the other way around.

Here are some photos of the current drought in California at Lake Oroville and Folsom Lake.  The “before” pictures are from 2011, the “after” pictures (on the right) are from this year.

  1. Gee, you think the millions of additional people in the state might have something to do with the water shortage?

You can only keep adding population for so long in an area that doesn’t have it’s own natural water sources ! They are draining those lakes in order to keep the population growing. They’ve been doing this for decades while stopping any additional construction or infrastructure increases for water.

And for the last 19 years; the ‘global warming’ has been on PAUSE.

    Where is the global warming?

    Bob S.

    1. Hi, Bob. Welcome back. Aren’t you the “gun guy?”

Even NASA believes global warming is true, and here is their website:

And, yes, they do have a page that states average surface and ocean temperature is rising.

This is what Bill Nye is talking about – even though there is an enormous amount of science about it, people don’t give a damn about it.

It’s sort of an American thing – people outside the U.S. mostly do believe in it.

I don’t understand how it could be a “hoax.” Who is behind the “hoax?” Al Gore? He’s not even in politics anymore. He can’t tell you what to do. He’s not your boss.

Even the Pentagon and DOD believe in it (that was in the video if you watched it).

      1. Love how you try to pigeon hole me as to decrease the value of my comments. As if a ‘gun guy’ couldn’t understand anything else but ‘guns’.

        Nice try.

While the ‘science is settled’ as far as the government is concerned — after all it allows them to increase regulations and laws by the boatload — it isn’t so settled for many people. As I asked — and you failed to answer – do you think the population increase has something to do with the water shortage?

And if global warming is man-made; can you explain the 19 Year PAUSE in increasing temperatures?

By the way, I love your logical fallacy attempts — “appeal to authority” — classic.

        Bob S.

      2. Thank you for your comment, Bob S., You’re not in Texas, are you?

NASA says the temperature IS warming.

Regarding the “19 year PAUSE in increasing temperature”: Where do you get that information?

I don’t know what you’re talking about. What decrease in temperature ? Do you have evidence and sources? I would be happy to read it if you give evidence and sources.

This is from the NASA website:

“All three major global surface temperature reconstructions show that Earth has warmed since 1880. Most of this warming has occurred since the 1970s, with the 20 warmest years having occurred since 1981 and with all 10 of the warmest years occurring in the past 12 years. Even though the 2000s witnessed a solar output decline resulting in an unusually deep solar minimum in 2007-2009, surface temperatures continue to increase.”

  2. Once again — what difference does it make where I’m from?

Is the global climate change different in Texas than where ever you are from?

When the climate scientist and geologist Bob Carter of James Cook University in Australia wrote an article in 2006 saying that there had been no global warming since 1998 according to the most widely used measure of average global air temperatures, there was an outcry. A year later, when David Whitehouse of the Global Warming Policy Foundation in London made the same point, the environmentalist and journalist Mark Lynas said in the New Statesman that Mr. Whitehouse was “wrong, completely wrong,” and was “deliberately, or otherwise, misleading the public.”

We know now that it was Mr. Lynas who was wrong. Two years before Mr. Whitehouse’s article, climate scientists were already admitting in emails among themselves that there had been no warming since the late 1990s. “The scientific community would come down on me in no uncertain terms if I said the world had cooled from 1998,” wrote Phil Jones of the University of East Anglia in Britain in 2005. He went on: “Okay it has but it is only seven years of data and it isn’t statistically significant.”

If the pause lasted 15 years, they conceded, then it would be so significant that it would invalidate the climate-change models upon which policy was being built. A report from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) written in 2008 made this clear: “The simulations rule out (at the 95% level) zero trends for intervals of 15 yr or more.”

Well, the pause has now lasted for 16, 19 or 26 years—depending on whether you choose the surface temperature record or one of two satellite records of the lower atmosphere. That’s according to a new statistical calculation by Ross McKitrick, a professor of economics at the University of Guelph in Canada.

It has been roughly two decades since there was a trend in temperature significantly different from zero. The burst of warming that preceded the millennium lasted about 20 years and was preceded by 30 years of slight cooling after 1940.

19 years of no warming being ignored by people like Bill Nye. Sorry just because people refuse to accept the fact doesn’t mean it isn’t true.

    How about this from “NASA”

Practically everything you have been told by the mainstream scientific community and the media about the alleged detriments of greenhouse gases, and particularly carbon dioxide, appears to be false, according to new data compiled by NASA’s Langley Research Center. As it turns out, all those atmospheric greenhouse gases that Al Gore and all the other global warming hoaxers have long claimed are overheating and destroying our planet are actually cooling it, based on the latest evidence.

As reported by Principia Scientific International (PSI), Martin Mlynczak and his colleagues over at NASA tracked infrared emissions from the earth’s upper atmosphere during and following a recent solar storm that took place between March 8-10. What they found was that the vast majority of energy released from the sun during this immense coronal mass ejection (CME) was reflected back up into space rather than deposited into earth’s lower atmosphere.

The result was an overall cooling effect that completely contradicts claims made by NASA’s own climatology division that greenhouse gases are a cause of global warming. As illustrated by data collected using Sounding of the Atmosphere using Broadband Emission Radiometry (SABER), both carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitric oxide (NO), which are abundant in the earth’s upper atmosphere, greenhouse gases reflect heating energy rather than absorb it.

    1. Bob Carter of James Cook University in Australia works for many “climate denier” groups, and has also been given “the boot” by James Cook University.

The Global Warming Policy Foundation has a bunch of secret, undisclosed donors. I wonder why? Is it funded by a bunch of business/climate denier groups?

The Natural News article cites Principia Scientific International, which is considered a “fringe group.”

Yes, there were a few things out there on the web about a “hiatus.” Some of the articles state that the hiatus is short-term. It is hard to find information about this from reliable sources.

  3. I prefer to get my information from a reliable source like NASA. At this address, they have a graph called the “Global Surface Temperature Index” that shows the temperature rising. It is a “global land-ocean temperature index.”

It is important to measure both land and ocean temperatures to get the full picture.

  4. Love how you attack the groups — another logical fallacy called Ad hominem –

While still not answering the question — could the population increase be responsible for the water shortage?

We could go round and round on the global warming; obviously you are a true believer who will not waiver in the support.
So, let me ask you Global warming supporter; what are you personally doing in order to change the world?

Are you not using your car, not using electricity, wearing only clothes made locally, eating food within walking distance of your home?

Have you changed a single aspect of your life in a major way?

    1. Wikipedia states: ” Lagging effects of La Nina, Climate Change, and also a large persistent upper level ridge of high pressure present over much of North America since the late Winter have all contributed to the drought and above average temperatures since February 2012.”

Could it also be from overpopulation? Maybe. Why not? If you have evidence and sources, I’ll take a look at it.

To answer your question about changing my life, I have often ridden my bike to work or taken the bus. Busses reduce pollution because you have 30 or 40 people in 1 bus instead of in 30 or 40 cars.

Mitsubishi has a new electric car (i-MiEV) out for a good price. I’m all for electric or hybrid cars. The Nissan Leaf is more pricey, but people can buy used.

Why would you NOT be for these things? Even if you cannot yet afford it and have to drive an old Ford, why would you be against electric or hybrid vehicles, etc.?
