A staffer for Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has resigned after reports shed light on some past inflammatory remarks.
Ethan Czahor, who was the chief technology officer of Bush’s political action committee, Right To Rise, stepped down from the post on Tuesday after his past remarks on Twitter and his blog drew complaints.
“The Right to Rise PAC accepted Ethan Czahor’s resignation today,” the group said in a statement. “While Ethan has apologized for regrettable and insensitive comments, they do not reflect the views of Governor Bush or his organization and it is appropriate for him to step aside. We wish him the best.”
Czahor tweeted about his resignation Tuesday evening.
After Time reported on Bush hiring the co-founder of BuzzFeed found that Czahor had deleted a number of offensive tweets from his personal account.to help prepare for the former governor’s potential 2016 presidential run,
The tweets, written between 2009 and 2011, referred to women as “sluts” and made derogatory comments about gay men.
On Tuesday, The Huffington Post reported further on Czahor’s Internet past, including a 2008 blog post praising Martin Luther King Jr. for not wearing “pants sagged to his ankles.”
