Are all Muslims the same? Does religion play a role in the Middle East?
Is ISIS and Iran on the same side, or are they fighting each other?
Is Bashar Assad on the same side as ISIS?
The turmoil in Yemen grew into a regional conflict Thursday, with Sunni Saudi Arabia and its allies bombing Shiite rebels allied with Iran, while Egyptian officials said a ground assault will follow the airstrikes.
It’s very possible that Sunnis and Shia hate each other more than either hates the U.S. But, of course, there is this … the enemy of my enemy is my friend. This is one of the things that most Americans and, unfortunately, many of the “smart” people, don’t get. The Middle East is a hornet’s nest that we poked several decades ago. And they’re all still buzzing about. Shifting alliances, centuries old conflicts, countries that aren’t really countries. It’s a mess that we are never going to “fix.”
I generally agree.
I gave it that title, though, because I think some right-wingers don’t know that there’s a difference, and they’d like to “kill ’em all.” They don’t understand the complexities.
“Kill ’em all” is not a solution…
Yep. But “kill ’em all” doesn’t require any thought or analysis.
Sunni and Shia are not the same. It seems from your post and comments that you don’t really seem to care or believe in either are human beings just like you.
Sunni and Shia are two branches of Muslims. They have similarities and respective differences, which doesn’t make them evil, but different.
Also many extremists individuals or groups don’t have a religion, they list powers above all
Of course they are different. In fact they are fighting each other.
ISIS claims to be Sunni, and they are fighting Shia militias (backed by Iran) in Iraq.
That is what the video tries to make clear.
The people who so called claim to be certain Muslims, but extremists are NOT a Muslim.
Muslim has a definition of peace and one who disturbs peace with violence is not a peacemaker or even close.
