Is Carly Fiorina “reasonable” on abortion rights?
The co-host of The View Whoopi Goldberg demanded on Tuesday to know if Carly Fiorina will base a presidential bid on her “Christian beliefs” – in this case, meaning abortion.
The Republican contender for president appeared on the show and rebutted such attacks on her conservative views.
Goldberg bluntly quizzed, “I assume you’re a person who is very, sort of, pro-life and believes in that. Are you going to run as a person going to govern for everyone or are you running on your Christian beliefs?”
After admitting to being impressed with Fiorina in general, the co-host awkwardly pressed the abortion issue: “If you feel that women should have the choice… why do you think choice is not a good thing?”
Fiorina seems to look for balance and compromise in her answer, which is apparently a ban on “late term abortions.” She calls it a “delicate subject” and seems to look for “common ground.” She did not use abortion as a “litmus test” or state that she wanted to ban it outright.
That discussion appears at roughly the 7:40 mark in the video.
