According to Politico, The Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) announced recently that it will host former vice president Dick Cheney at the “Sunshine Summit,” a three-day event that it hopes will draw Republican presidential candidates.
“The Sunshine Summit is a unique opportunity and event where presidential candidates will share their vision for the nation with the more than 2,500 expected activists and grassroots leaders,” said RPOF chairman Blaise Ingoglia in a statement.
Cheney will speak on the first day of the event, keynoting the “Statesman’s Dinner.” The event will run from November 12 through 15.
According to CBS Miami, the timing allows the party to avoid a conflict with a Congressional redistricting special session of that will be held this fall.
CBS Miami: “Some or all lawmakers might not have been able to attend a fundraising event during the session because of legislative rules. Instead, the party will hold its Statesman’s Dinner on November 12th, with former Vice President Dick Cheney speaking.”
