An 11-year-old girl in Paraguay who was raped by her mother’s boyfriend gave birth on Thursday. This re-started the uproar over authorities’ refusal to let her have an abortion.
The child, who was 10 when she was raped, gave birth by C-section to a girl that weighed 3.5 kilos (eight pounds), said Dolores Castellanos, the doctor that monitored the pregnancy.
In other news, Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee supported Paraguay’s decision to deny the abortion, he revealed in an interview Sunday.
In an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Huckabee argued that the Paraguayan government’s refusal to allow an abortion for the now-11-year-old prevented a “second tragedy.”
