Presidential candidate Donald Trump reportedly won’t appear on Fox News due to comments made about him and a lack of poll coverage on the network. During Wednesday’s Fox News The Kelly File program, National Review’s Rich Lowry said, “Last debate, let’s be honest, Carly cut his balls off with the precision of a surgeon and he knows it.”
For its part, Fox News has said Donald Trump is upset because the network cancelled an interview with him.
The Donald has refused to back down from his boycott and he called for Lowry to be fined by the FCC.
However, The Washington Post states that “the FCC’s authority to regulate vulgarity extends only to over-the-air broadcasting. Fox News Channel…is solely on cable, and on cable you can say much worse than ‘balls.’”
Will the network budge and try to compromise? According to MediaITE, Fox has released this statement:
“Fox News Chairman & CEO Roger Ailes and Donald Trump spoke this morning and plan to have a meeting next week to discuss their differences of opinion regarding Fox’s coverage of Mr. Trump’s presidential campaign. Ailes will be joined by senior Fox editorial executives. Mr. Trump believes he has been treated unfairly in certain instances. FOX News has held every candidate in this race to the highest journalistic standards throughout our coverage. We believe a candid meeting about our differences is required and that any misunderstandings can be handled without compromising those standards.”
