Tonight there will be a Democratic presidential debate on CNN.
Earlier, candidates Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton looked at at dates for a debate, and some of the dates didn’t look good.
Hillary Clinton’s campaign said in a statement recently that they offered April 4 as a potential date to debate Bernie Sanders, but the Sanders team wanted instead to schedule the debate after the Wisconsin primary on April 5. Also, that day was the night of the NCAA basketball tournament finals.
Clinton officials then suggested the days before taxes are due – April 14 and April 15 – as possibilities to debate. Bernie Sanders and his campaign accepted April 14th.
“Unfortunately, the dates and venues [Clinton] has proposed don’t make a whole lot of sense,” Sanders spokesman Michael Briggs responded in a statement.
“The idea that they want a debate in New York on a night of the NCAA finals — with Syracuse in the tournament, no less — is ludicrous. We have proposed other dates, which they have rejected. We hope we can reach agreement in the near future.”
