Sanders ‘Disappointed’ That Ed Show Will Be Canceled

PlanetEarth TrimTab

Recently, MSNBC decided to cancel Ed Schultz’s “The Ed Show.” He will reportedly be replaced with a more “moderate” anchor – Meet The Press’ Chuck Todd. Schultz is known for giving more liberal politicians a platform to speak.

Schultz has talked with left-wing Senator Bernie Sanders “many times” on his show, writes MediaITE.

How does Sanders feel about MSNBC getting rid of The Ed Show?

Politico reports that Senator Sanders said Thursday that he is “disappointed” in Comcast’s decision to remove Ed Schultz from its lineup.

This seemed to confirm earlier reports that Schultz’s “Ed Show” was one of several MSNBC programs to be canceled.

“We live in a time when much of the corporate media regards politics as a baseball game or a soap opera,” the Democratic presidential hopeful said in a statement. “Ed Schultz has treated the American people with respect by focusing on the most important issues impacting their lives,” Sanders said, according to Politico.

Sanders continued: “He has talked about income and wealth inequality, high unemployment, low wages, our disastrous trade policies and racism in America.

“I am very disappointed that Comcast chose to remove Ed Schultz from its lineup. We need more people who talk about the real issues facing our country, not fewer,” Sanders continued. “At a time when a handful of large, multinational corporations own our major media outlets, I hope they will allow voices to be heard from those who dissent from the corporate agenda.”

Above, Schultz speaks with Sanders soon after he declared he would be running for President.

Bernie Sanders States Hillary Should Take A Position On TPP Trade Agreement

The Daily Caller / CNN

Recently, Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders called out Hillary Clinton for not having a clear position on the TPP trade agreement.

Sanders has made his position against the agreement clear, and recently called it “disastrous.”

In an op-ed column in the New Hampshire Union Leader earlier this month, he wrote that every union and almost every environmental organization is against the trade deal.  He states that many religious organizations are also against the trade deal.

What Is The Situation With Bernie Sanders’ ‘Rape Article?’

A new topic has been making the rounds in the main-stream media in regards to Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders:  an essay he wrote in the 1970’s that talks about rape fantasies.

The essay appeared in the alternative newspaper the Vermont Freeman.  Sanders was age 31 at the time.

The Democratic candidate said on a Sunday talk show that it was simply an attempt to address power dynamics – much like the erotic novel “50 Shades of Grey.”

“This is a piece of fiction that I wrote in 1972, I think,” the Vermont senator told Chuck Todd on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Could Mr. Sanders’ political enemies use the old essay against him?

“That was 43 years ago. It was very poorly written and if you read it, what it was dealing with was gender stereotypes, why some men like to oppress women, why other women like to be submissive, you know, something like ‘Fifty Shades of Grey,’” he elaborated.

Mother Jones Magazine unearthed the article last week.  Sanders spokesman Michael Briggs called it a “dumb attempt at dark satire in an alternative publication.”

Is Bernie A Credible Challenge To Hillary?

The New York Times writes that “(t)he first evidence that Mrs. Clinton could face a credible challenge in the Iowa presidential caucuses appeared late last week in the form of overflow crowds at Mr. Sanders’s first swing through that state since declaring his candidacy for the Democratic nomination.

He drew 700 people to an event on Thursday night in Davenport, for instance.  It was “the largest rally in the state for any single candidate this campaign season,” writes the New York Times.  Only 50 attended a rally there on Saturday with former Governor Martin O’Malley of Maryland.

The Iowa caucuses on February 1st are the first in the country.  They will be a test for Hillary Clinton, who came in third in Iowa during her presidential run in 2008.

Mr. Sanders is considered the Senate’s most left-wing member, and he has been inspiring to the Democratic base at recent rallies and town-hall-style meetings, including on Wednesday in the first presidential primary state, New Hampshire.

Mrs. Clinton is far ahead in the polls, fund-raising and name recognition, however, and she is expected to continue to have a much more organized and sophisticated campaign operation in Iowa and nationwide than Mr. Sanders.

According to The New York Times, “(h)er mix of centrist and progressive Democratic views may yet prove more appealing to the broadest number of party voters as well, while some of Mr. Sanders’s policy prescriptions – including far higher taxes on the wealthy and deep military spending cuts – may eventually persuade Democrats that he is unelectable in a general election.”

What is the Wall Street Sales Tax?

According to againstausterity.org:

“…Wall Street speculators pay no tax on their share of a yearly turnover of over $5 quadrillion (5,000 trillion dollars) in stocks, bonds and derivatives.  A 1% tax on this turnover, equally divided between the federal and state governments, largely solves the budget deficit at all levels of government.  It also discourages the most dangerous forms of speculation, especially derivatives speculation, and helps to level the playing field between financial services – which are now in effect subsidized because they are not taxed – and the tangible, physical production of manufactured goods on which our economic survival depends.”

In the video, they say the word “troglodytic.”  What does troglodytic mean?

Troglodytic means of, about, or relating to a troglodyte.   A troglodyte was a prehistoric cave-dweller, or “a person of degraded, primitive, or brutal character,” according to dictionary.com.
