Law Enforcement Warning About ISIS And American Youth Sent Out

The FBI and Department of Homeland Security sent out a joint warning to law enforcement across the country last weekend concerning a growing trend of girls and boys wanting to fight with ISIS, according to CNN.

One official said there was no increase in U.S. government threat levels, although there is heightened concern lately about recruitment of American and other foreign fighters by Islamic State, also known as ISIS.

A DHS official, commenting on background, said the bulletin was issued “to provide further information on the continuing trend of Western youth being inspired by ISIL to travel to Syria to participate in conflict,” says Reuters.

The warning comes in the wake of the detention of a 17-year-old Northern Virginia teen last week, says a law enforcement official who has read the report.

The source says law enforcement is tracking “lots of cases” like that around the country and they’re growing increasingly concerned about the threat.

The warning lays out motivations for boys and girls to join ISIS.

Boys tend to be older when they leave to fight and be a part of foreign fighters, or they want to attack in the U.S.  Girls tend to be younger and have a fanciful notion of what life is like in Syria, and they often want to go over and be Islamic brides.

How GOP 2016ers Responded To Giuliani’s Comments That Obama Doesn’t Love America

Here is how the different Republican 2016 candidates responded to Giuliani’s assertion that Barack Obama doesn’t love his country, according to NBC News.

Bush: “Governor Bush doesn’t question President Obama’s motives. He does question President Obama’s disastrous policies.” – per Bush’s spokeswoman

Graham: “I have no doubt that he loves his country. I have no doubt that he’s a patriot. But his primary job as president of the United States is to defend this country and he’s failing miserably.” – to ABC

Jindal: “The gist of what Mayor Giuliani said — that the President has shown himself to be completely unable to speak the truth about the nature of the threats from these terrorists – is true,” Jindal said in a statement. “If you are looking for someone to condemn the mayor, look elsewhere.”

Paul: “I think it’s a mistake to question people’s motives. It’s one thing to disagree on policy.”

Rubio: “Democrats aren’t asked to answer every time Joe Biden says something embarrassing. So I don’t know why I should answer every time a Republican does. I will suffice it to say that I believe the president loves America. I just think his ideas are bad.

Walker: “Yeah, I mean, the mayor can speak for himself. I’m not going to comment on whether — what the president thinks or not. He can speak for himself as well. I’ll tell you, I love America.” – to CNBC.

Right Wing Watch

Bryan Fischer hosts the talk radio program Focal Point on American Family Radio and posts on the American Family Association blog Instant Analysis (formerly Rightly Concerned), according to Wikipedia.

“To avoid being classified as a hate group, the AFA has officially repudiated Fischer’s views on Muslims, Native Americans, Hispanics, African Americans, The Holocaust being caused by homosexuals, the outlawing of homosexuality and that LGBT parenting is slavery, and that Hillary Clinton is a lesbian.”

Obama Signs Suicide Prevention Bill For Veterans

Amidst partisanship over health care in the U.S., one issue received support from both parties, according to U.S. News and World Report: curbing suicides among American veterans.

The issue was not mentioned in President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address, but it became clear early this year that both Democrats and Republicans would rally around it.

The Senate voted 99-0 to pass the Clay Hunt Suicide Prevention for American Veterans Act on Feb. 3, while the House voted 403-0 in favor of it last month. Obama signed the bill on Thursday.

The bill is named after a Marine Corps veteran who killed himself in 2011 after he struggled with post-traumatic stress disorder following deployments to Iraq and in Afghanistan.

Last December, Senator Tom Coburn, an Oklahoma Republican, single-handedly stalled the Clay Hunt Suicide Prevention for American Veterans Act in the Senate, saying that it carries too hefty a price tag and the VA could already handle it.

Veterans groups said the Clay Hunt Suicide Prevention for American Veterans Act , which would require a report on successful veteran suicide prevention programs and allow the VA to pay incentives to hire psychiatrists, is desperately needed.

Jesse Ventura On Chris Kyle: ‘Do You Think The Nazis Have Heroes?’

Former pro wrestler and Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura continues his Shock and Awe attack on deceased “American Sniper” Chris Kyle.  On Fox News radio, he said it does not mean much to describe Kyle as a “hero” because the Nazis had heroes too.

“A hero should have honor,” Ventura told radio host Alan Colmes in an interview. “A hero is not how many people you’ve killed.”  Ventura said that Kyle is “obviously a great sniper” and “a great shot. He obviously did his job correctly.”

Then, Ventura asked Colmes: “Do you think the Nazis have heroes?”

Colmes replied that “the Nazis were fighting for a cause we can’t condone.”

Ventura responded by asking Colmes: “If a Nazi soldier killed a hundred people that had lived” in a Nazi-occupied country in World War II, would that soldier “be classified a hero in Germany?”

Colmes asked if Ventura was “comparing what the Nazi mission was versus what our mission is in war as a country.”

“Well, what I’m stating is we invaded Iraq, we were not asked in,” Ventura replied. “We invaded a country, we overthrew its government, and then we killed people that lived there.”

“Are we analogous to the Nazis?” Colmes asked.

“Well, and the Communists, yeah,” Ventura replied.

Ventura states he was a Navy SEAL.  He was part of the Navy’s UDT, or Underwater Demolition Team, which later merged with the SEALs in the 1980s.

Last year, Ventura won $1.8 million in a defamation lawsuit against Kyle’s estate.

He sued for defamation, alleging that Kyle – the hero of the movie “American Sniper” – falsely claimed in part of his book to have punched out a man, later identified as Ventura, in a California bar in 2006 after Ventura allegedly said the SEALs “deserve to lose a few” in Iraq.

Ventura said last week that he will not see the film, in part because he does not regard Kyle as a hero.  “A hero must be honorable, must have honor. And you can’t have honor if you’re a liar. There is no honor in lying,” Ventura said.

Ventura also dismissed the movie as propaganda because it conveys the false idea that Iraq had something to do with the 9/11 attacks. “It’s as authentic as ‘Dirty Harry,'” he said — a reference to the fictional movie series starring the director of American Sniper, Clint Eastwood.

GOP Warns Iranian Nukes May Hit US Cities: Are They Serious?

A week ago, three presidential candidates talked to a roomful of wealthy donors at the Koch Brothers’ American Recovery Policy Forum in Palm Springs, California. The discussion underscored disagreement within the GOP over global affairs and national security.

Republican Sens. Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and Rand Paul took part in a largely friendly, but occasionally fiery, panel at the event sponsored by Charles and David Koch.

The event was moderated by ABC’s Jonathan Karl, and marked the first time potential GOP contenders gathered on the same stage at the same time to talk about policy in 2015, a year that’s expected to see several candidates compete for the Republican nomination.
