MSNBC Video: Interview With President Of KKK At Ferguson, Missouri

Chris Hayes interviews the imperial wizard and president of the traditionalist American knights of the Ku Klux Klan at Ferguson, Missouri. The interview comes as a grand jury nears its decision whether to charge the Ferguson police officer who shot the unarmed teenager.

Hayes also interviews a St. Louis newspaper columnist and the St. Louis chief of police.

According to RT:

“The grand jury weighing whether to bring criminal charges against the police officer who shot an unarmed black teenager in Ferguson, Missouri is reportedly nearing its end, and tension in the area is rising over the possible outcome.

“Following the testimony of a private pathologist hired by the family of Michael Brown – the 18-year-old teenager shot and killed by Officer Darren Wilson – the grand jury is likely exhausting its set of witnesses. If true, it means a decision on charges could come as soon as this weekend.”

KKK To Accept Minorities

Members of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) participate in a cross lighting ceremony at a Klansman's home in Warrenville, South Carolina

Will the KKK accept minorities?

According to the International Business Times, the white supremacist organization, the Ku Klux Klan is rebranding as the “new Klan” by trying to increase membership to Jews, black people, gays and those of Hispanic origin.

However, all those wanting to join the ultra-right wing society will have to wear the white robes, masks and conical hats. The Klan is estimated to have between 5,000 and 8,000 members according to figures released in 2012.

The Ku Klux Klan is notorious for racist violence, including lynchings of black people. It is classified as a hate group by the Anti-Defamation League and the civil rights law firm Southern Poverty Law Center.

Some black people have already expressed an interest in joining, after KKK organizer John Abarr arranged a summit with civil rights groups.

Abarr, who has claimed that he is a former white supremacist, told the Great Falls Tribune, “The KKK is for a strong America. White supremacy is the old Klan. This is the new Klan.”

Abarr has organized a peace summit with religious groups and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) next summer.

The KKK organizer from Great Falls, Montana told the Associated Press that he filled out a membership card to NAACP, paying the $30 enrollment fee and also adding a $20 donation.

Far-Right Demonstrations Planned This Weekend in Texas

The Michigan-based National Socialist Movement is planning a “show of force” against illegal immigration Saturday afternoon at the Rockwall County Courthouse, in suburban Dallas.

But according to Raw Story, a Ku Klux Klan group plans a separate rally for noon Saturday in Nacogdoches, a couple of hours east, giving truly dedicated anti-immigration activists time to attend both.

The rallies are at competing times.

Kyle Kulinski discusses it.
