John G. Taft wrote an op-ed article for the New York Times recently. He is a relative of the president William Howard Taft. Many in his family have been active in politics at the state and federal level – and they have been Republicans. His op-ed takes a look at the recent actions within the Tea Party wing of the Republican party and actually compares them with another questionable episode from Republican Party politics – McCarthyism.
He even compares senator Ted Cruz to senator Joseph McCarthy.
Ouch.
