57% of Republicans support establishing Christianity as the national religion, according to the Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling group.
30% are opposed to it, and another 13% said they were not sure. According to the poll, 74% of Republicans have a favorable opinion of former president George W. Bush as well.
According to TPM, the poll was conducted among 316 Republicans from Feb. 20-22. The margin of error was plus or minus 5.5 percentage points.

OK, Fine. 
This absolutely disregards the foundation of religious freedom. Even if one is permitted to practice another religion, a move such as this would abolish the separation of church and state, therefore breaking the floodgates to a wave of religious based laws and regulations, more so than there already are.
Yes, and I’m sure that some in the church would take advantage of it for their own benefit and power….
