The Majority Of Republican Primary Voters Want Christianity To Be The National Religion

57% of Republicans support establishing Christianity as the national religion, according to the Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling group.

30% are opposed to it, and another 13% said they were not sure. According to the poll, 74% of Republicans have a favorable opinion of former president George W. Bush as well.

According to TPM, the poll was conducted among 316 Republicans from Feb. 20-22. The margin of error was plus or minus 5.5 percentage points.

  1. This absolutely disregards the foundation of religious freedom. Even if one is permitted to practice another religion, a move such as this would abolish the separation of church and state, therefore breaking the floodgates to a wave of religious based laws and regulations, more so than there already are.
